An honoree can also import wishes from their own wishlists, and importing again only adds the ones that aren't there yet. Because every guest can see what's already claimed, it's easy to avoid wrapping the same gift.
Live countdown to the big day
Set the event date — and an optional time — and GiftCrew shows a live, ticking countdown right on the group page. As the day approaches, the countdown builds anticipation and quietly keeps everyone on schedule, so claims and purchases happen well before the celebration instead of in a last-minute scramble.

The honorees never see who claimed what, and they can't read the event chat where the group plans the gift. Pick the event date and optional time to start the live countdown, then share the invite link. Guests join straight from their browser — no app install required — and can see the date and details the moment they arrive.

Name the honorees & build the wishlist
An admin marks who the celebration is for — one person or several (up to 10), like a wedding couple. The honorees then fill the shared wishlist with ideas, links, and notes, or import wishes from their own lists, while their view stays clear of any claim details.

Claim, coordinate & celebrate
Guests claim items and, when the group's owner has Pro, use event chat to divide up a bigger gift. The honorees see none of it — just their list and the countdown winding down — until the big day arrives and the gifts are revealed. Claims are cleared automatically 14 days after the event.

What is an event group on GiftCrew?

Can an event have more than one honoree?
Yes. Some celebrations are for a couple or a pair — a wedding, an anniversary, or joint birthdays. You can designate up to 10 honorees for a single event, and each of them can edit the same shared wishlist. Everyone else coordinates around that one list, so the gifts stay organized no matter how many people are being celebrated.
Can honorees bring wishes from their own wishlists?
Yes. If you create the event and choose It’s for me, you can start its wishlist with a copy of one of your lists. Later, any honoree can import wishes from their own lists on the event’s page. Importing again only adds wishes that aren’t on the event’s wishlist yet, never duplicates, and it points out ones that might already be there because they have the same name or link. Your own lists stay as they are, and you can still add wishes straight to the event’s wishlist.
Will the honorees see who claimed which gift?
No. Claims are completely hidden from the honorees, and they can't read the event chat where the group plans the gift. Everyone else sees which items are claimed and, when the group's owner has Pro, can talk freely in event chat — but the honorees only see their list and the countdown, never who claimed what. The surprise is preserved by design.
What if the event wishlist is empty or out of date?
Guests can tap Ask for an update on the event wishlist. The honorees see how many guests asked, never who, and get a notification. When any honoree adds, changes or removes a wish, or taps It’s up to date, everyone who asked hears back, and new wishes are marked New for them.
How does the event countdown work?
When you create the event, you set the date and, if you like, a specific time. GiftCrew then displays a live countdown on the group page that ticks down to the moment of the event. It updates automatically, builds anticipation, and gently keeps everyone on schedule so claims and purchases are sorted well before the day arrives.
Do we get reminded before the event?
Yes. GiftCrew sends push reminders to guests who have notifications turned on, on a clear cadence — 2 weeks, 1 week, 3 days, and 1 day before the event, and on the day itself. Honorees don't get them, and reminders are free on every plan. These nudges make sure no one forgets to claim a gift or follow through on their part, so the whole group is ready when the celebration arrives.
